Fit at work – tips and tricks
Every person who sits in front of a computer in the office or at work every day for many years will sooner or later deal with the subject of health.
The complaints on her own body are often the same:
- Headache,
- Back and shoulder pain,
- Burning eyes and a general feeling of sluggishness.
If you want to become fit at work, you have to change your daily office routine, at least in part, and integrate new habits that promote your own health into your daily routine – apart from regular sports during non-working hours.
Clearly: on some days, the many tasks on the office desk or even the ever-approaching project deadline do not allow time for other things.
But if you at least make it your goal to regularly integrate these tips and tricks into your daily work routine, you will definitely be doing your body some good!
Get up, stretch, move on!
Often the project ‘Fit at the workplace‘ with the simple goal of getting out of his office chair at least once an hour. This tip may sound simple, but it can work wonders!
Getting up or. the short stretching leads namely to the fact that the muscles shortened by sitting for a long time are ‘stretched’ again. This not only feels good, but also promotes the circulation of blood in the body.
Another plus: your own eyes also get a well-deserved break during this phase and can recover (briefly) after the intensive work on the desktop. This step alone can even prevent headaches and migraines in the best case scenario!
Drink a lot and eat sensibly!
Especially when you work under time pressure and are engrossed in your tasks, you can sometimes forget to drink regularly.
A fatal mistake, because: Dehydration can lead not only to headaches, but in addition to fatigue and a general feeling of unwellness. So if you drink regularly, you have a clear advantage – and if in doubt, you’re even more productive!
Also on the subject of „food“ some, simple rules to follow. The basic rule here is: rather eat more often during the day, but smaller and above all healthier meals!
Just if the own day was long and/or. When stress is high, it is often impossible to resist the lurking temptations in the office – cakes, donuts and chocolate bars greet you.
But just these objects, in combination with junk food, lead to the own concentration dwindles, because the body is constantly busy to digest the huge ‘mass’ of food.
Keeping your back straight at work!
Clearly, not everyone will have the luxury of ergonomic office chairs at their workplace. But even expensive office chairs you can save your back with a few simple tricks and if necessary. even strengthen.
One of the most popular variants is certainly the one with the gymnastics ball. Simply replace the chair with the ball and continue working as normal.
The gymnastics ball automatically forces us to keep our back straight and thus effectively avoids an incorrect back position.
It is also important that the armrests of your own office chair are at the same height as the table. So the own arms lie while ‘typing’ on the keyboard resp. when working with the mouse always in the perfect 90 degree angle.
If you can choose, you should also definitely switch to a height-adjustable table. In addition to the sitting periods, you can also include some sections where you do your work standing up. Your muscles will thank you for it!
Keep calm, cool and positive!
Last but not least, being fit at work also means not letting stress and negative moods affect you and maintaining a positive mindset throughout the day.
Stress and negative thoughts set hormones free in our body, which worsen the own health condition – particularly in the long term – by a multiple!
If you have a designated room in your office, you can also retreat to it regularly and perform small meditations.
The thoughts briefly collected, focused on the essentials, you have the opportunity in the shortest time full of energy to approach the tasks of the day – and to work on them with a smile!
